The Mississippi Delta holds a very special place in my heart—it’s filled with so much character, and the restaurant scene is certainly no exception! A family favorite is Doe’s Eat Place—located in an interesting section of Greenville, Mississippi. With its mismatched decor and rustic charm, Doe’s cuisine is drenched in mouthwatering flavors! If you ever find yourself at Doe’s, be sure to order a “Doe’s Salad” in between the chili-cheese covered tamale course and your T-Bone steak!
Freshly tossed in lemon juice and drizzed with olive oil, try my version of a Doe’s Salad–the perfect pair to any dish!
you will need…
3 garlic cloves, halved
Juice of 3 lemons
1/3 cup olive oil
1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
2 teaspoons salt
10oz Spring Organic Mixed Greens
2 Heirloom Tomatoes
6 small radishes, thinly sliced(optional; The rich magenta radishes boost the salad’s presentation while providing the perfect crunch!)
freshly ground pepper
Season a large wooden bowl by rubbing the bottom and sides of the bowl with the garlic cloves. Mince the garlic and place in seasoned bowl to combine with lemon juice and olive oil. Add the sliced onions and tomatoes. Once ready to serve, gently toss the mixed greens and radishes until lettuce is evenly coated. Season with freshly ground pepper. EnJOY!
*Savvy Hint: Seasoning your wooden bowl adds a beautiful depth of flavor. Overtime your bowl will absorb the beautiful aroma and will be bursting with flavor! Rinsing your wooden bowl with water will dilute the seasoning. To wash, simply drain your wooden bowl after each use and rub the bottom and sides of bowl with a clean paper towel.
