Does anything shout CELEBRATE more than balloons?! Birthdays, graduation, retirement, anniversaries; you name it! I know, latex balloons tend to be less formal and, quite frankly, a bit cliché when decorating for a soirée; however, with a few small adjustments, balloons can be an inexpensive and very dramatic focal point of any occasion! Below are a few ideas to bedazzle a simple balloon. EnJOY!
First, dress up a latex balloon by tying a pretty ribbon to it! Satin and silk are my favorites; it’s also fun and easy to make streamers for the tail of the balloon.
My brother’s 30th birthday dinner party was fancy shmancy, yet balloons were certainly the highlight of the table. I simply tied a handsome chocolate satin ribbon to each balloon. At the base of the ribbon, I created a picture collage by attaching various black and white photos captured over the past 30 years onto heavy cardstock. These served as the “runner” of the table. Another idea would be to use larger balloons and not use a heavy matte for the photo. This would allow the balloons to float over the table; just be sure not to hang them eye level! He was speechless when he entered the room—and he’s never been speechless!
*Savvy Hint: When creating a picture collage, make two copies of each photo. Use one copy for the décor and gift the second copies to the guest of honor! Such an easy party favor that they will forever treasure!
I also like to cover our foyer ceiling with XL balloons when hosting a celebration. This immediately sets a fun tone for guests when they enter our home!
Clear balloons have endless possibilities! Fill them with confetti, glitter or both!
Channel your inner Picasso and paint your balloons—have fun with it, and use whimsical or metallic colors to highlight the colors of your soirée. Gold or Silver Leaf provides an elegant touch to any affair!
